“Spring vs. Summer Birds: Who Rules the Skies?”

Hey friends! Summer’s here and school’s out , anyone got camping or hiking plans? If you’ve got the time, seriously, go treat yourself (or your family and friends) to some outdoor joy. Whether it’s a road trip, a weekend in the woods, or just a lazy picnic at the park, it’s the perfect chance to unwind and reconnect with nature. And while you’re out there soaking up the views, keep an eye out, you might just spot some adorable feathered visitors!
By this time of year, many migrating birds have already passed through and flown further north. What you’ll mostly see now are the local summer residents, the ones who stick around, raise their chicks, and fill the air with songs. With longer daylight hours and insects everywhere, birds are living their best lives, and summer is when they’re at their most active.
If you’ve been watching them through a camera feeder lately, especially one that syncs to an app or works with solar power, you might have already noticed a few familiar faces. And if not, maybe it’s time to take a break from the screen and spot them in the wild.
Let’s talk about a few of our favorite summer regulars, ones we often see in your snapshots and videos.

American Robin is basically the poster bird of summer. We’ve seen it in tons of user uploads, hopping around the lawn like it owns the place. Their chirpy songs sound especially cheerful in the morning, they’re real early birds.

Northern Cardinal is a stunner. Males are bright red, bold, and still belting out tunes all summer long. They love hanging out near shrubs and feeders, often staring straight into the camera like, “Excuse me, I’m eating here!” Their songs are loud and punchy, like nature’s own beatboxing session.

Blue Jay is clever, social, and a little dramatic, in the best way. You’ll find them flitting around oak trees or forest edges, and sometimes they’ll mimic hawks just to spook others. Total personality birds.

House Finch may be small, but it’s got a big voice. You’ll find them on balconies, window ledges, or hanging flower pots. When they’re raising chicks in summer, they sing even more, and their songs have this lovely little musical twist.

And then there’s the Mourning Dove, whose cooing sounds like a soft, lingering sigh. They perch on fences and power lines, quietly watching the world go by. When they take off, their wings make this sudden whoosh, like nature’s sound effect.

These five are just a few of the season’s regulars that we often spot through Beako’s lens, have you seen any of them on your own feeder cam lately? Summer days are long and full of sunlight. The birds are out there, calling you to come find them beyond the backyard. So go on, get outside, your next feathered friend is waiting!
